Terms of use
These terms are the contract between you and Vero. They explain the rules every job and application follows, what you can expect from us and what we expect from you. This English version is provided for convenience; if it differs from the Portuguese version, the Portuguese version prevails.

Who we are
Vero is a job platform for the whole of Portugal that connects people looking for work (candidates) with companies, agencies and sole traders (organisations), under rules that guarantee real jobs, a published salary and an answer to every application.
Vero is operated by entity name, tax number (NIF) tax number, registered office at registered office (“we”). For any question about these terms, write to contact email.
Vero is not a party to employment contracts or recruitment processes: it does not hire, does not choose candidates and does not decide on behalf of organisations. Each organisation is responsible for its jobs and its decisions.
Acceptance and changes
You can search and view jobs without an account. When you create an account, you accept these terms in the version in force at that moment and confirm that you have read the Privacy policy.
If we change these terms in a relevant way, we will email you at least 15 days before the new version takes effect, with a summary of what changes. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before that date. If you keep using Vero after it, the new version applies. Wording corrections that do not change rights or obligations may be published without notice.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old, the minimum working age in Portugal.
- One account per person, with your own email. People who manage an organisation use their personal account, with the role the organisation gave them.
- The information you provide must be true and up to date.
- Your password is yours alone. If you suspect someone knows it, change it and end your other sessions on your account page.
- You need to confirm your email to apply for jobs and to register an organisation.
You are responsible for what is done with your account, unless you have told us about misuse or it results from a failure on our side.
Rules for candidates
Vero is free for candidates, always. There are no paid highlights and no way to pay to appear first.
- You can have up to 8 active applications at the same time. An application stops counting when it gets a decision, when you withdraw it or when the organisation does not answer in time.
- Until you are invited to an interview, the organisation does not see your name or your email: it sees your professional headline, experience, availability and cover letter, if you write one. From the interview on, it also sees your name and email.
- Do not include in your cover letter or profile information the organisation does not need to assess your application, such as health, religion, origin, sexual orientation, family situation or what you earn or used to earn.
- Only apply for jobs that interest you. Do not use Vero to send advertising, mass messages or offensive content.
- You can withdraw an application at any time before the final decision.
Rules for organisations
Only verified organisations can publish jobs. To verify, we ask for the tax number (NIF) and the permanent certificate code (or an equivalent document for sole traders) and aim to decide within 24 hours.
By publishing a job, the organisation commits to:
- Publish only real jobs, which exist and are open, with the true number of positions.
- Always publish the gross salary: a fixed amount or a range whose maximum is no more than 30 % above the minimum, with the period and the number of payments per year.
- Answer every application by the end of the 10th working day after receiving it (national public holidays do not count), either inviting the candidate to an interview or declining with one of the available reasons. We send reminders on the 5th and 8th working days.
- Accept that, without a decision in time, the application becomes “no answer”, the candidate is told and the breach is recorded permanently in the organisation’s history, which is the basis for its public response indicators.
- Keep the job up to date: each job expires after 21 days and can only be renewed by confirming it is still open. Once published, the salary, contract type, work arrangement and location do not change; if they change, the job is closed and a new one is published.
- Close each job with the true reason: hired through Vero, hired elsewhere or cancelled. Applications still open receive an automatic answer.
- Not use discriminatory language or requirements without legal grounds related to age, sex, origin, nationality, appearance, marital status or family situation (articles 24 and 25 of the Portuguese Labour Code). Vero blocks the discriminatory expressions it recognises.
- Not ask candidates how much they earn or used to earn, nor ask about their private life, health or pregnancy, except where the law allows it.
- Never ask candidates for payments, deposits or costs of any kind.
- If it is an agency, identify the end client (or state that it is confidential, with the sector and location) and hold the licence the activity requires.
- Use candidates’ data only for the recruitment process they applied to.
Each organisation is responsible for processing the data it receives from candidates in its recruitment process and must comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Members of the organisation act on its behalf; the organisation’s administrator decides who joins and with which role.
What Vero guarantees
- No one pays to appear first. In search, jobs are shown by relevance to what you searched for or by publication date.
- We only show jobs published directly by verified organisations. We do not copy ads from other websites.
- We do not use personality tests, facial or voice analysis, or automated assessments of candidates. Decisions about applications are always made by people in the organisation.
- We show candidates the real status of each application: sent, viewed, under review, interview, offer and decision.
- We do not sell personal data or share it to train third-party artificial intelligence models.
Moderation and reports
To protect candidates and organisations, we actively enforce these rules:
- We verify each organisation before it can publish.
- An automatic validator, with fixed rules per category (age, sex, nationality, appearance and family), prevents saving job ads with discriminatory expressions. It does not use artificial intelligence and does not decide about people.
- People on our team can close a job, suspend an organisation or suspend an account that breaches these terms or the law.
When we close a job or suspend an organisation or an account, we explain the reason by email, with the facts and the rule concerned. The email includes a link to this section. To contest the decision, write to contact email explaining why you disagree: a person reviews the case and answers you.
If you find a job or behaviour that is illegal or contrary to these terms (for example, requests for payment, fake offers or discrimination), report it to contact email, stating the job or account and the reason. We handle reports as a priority and tell you what we decided.
Prices
For candidates, Vero is free and will stay free.
For organisations, use is free at this stage. If there are paid plans in the future, prices will be published beforehand and you only pay if you expressly subscribe to a plan: we never charge anything without your agreement. No paid plan gives jobs more visibility in candidates’ search.
Your content and ours
What you publish (job ads, profile, cover letters) remains yours. You allow us, free of charge and while the content is on Vero, to store, display and adapt it to the platform’s format, only to provide the service. Job ads are public and may appear in job search engines such as Google.
The Vero brand, design and software are ours. You may not copy the platform or collect data from it automatically (scraping) without written permission.
Availability and liability
We do our best to keep Vero running without interruptions, but there may be downtime for maintenance or technical failures. We do not guarantee that you will find work or that an organisation will hire you.
We verify organisations’ identity and enforce the rules in these terms, but we are not liable for the performance of employment contracts or for organisations’ decisions. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability where the law does not allow it, namely for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, nor your rights as a consumer.
Suspension and closing your account
You can stop using Vero whenever you want and ask us to delete your account, as explained in the Privacy policy.
We may suspend an account or an organisation that breaches these terms or the law, or that puts other people at risk, always with the reason sent by email. In serious or repeated cases, the account may be closed. An organisation’s record of meeting deadlines remains even if it leaves Vero.
Governing law, complaints and disputes
These terms are governed by Portuguese law.
If you have a complaint, write to us at contact email. You can also use the Portuguese electronic complaints book.
If you are a consumer, you can turn to an alternative consumer dispute resolution body, such as CNIACC – National Centre for Consumer Conflict Information and Arbitration (www.cniacc.pt). The full list of bodies is on the Consumer Portal.
In court, the legal rules on jurisdiction apply. If you are a consumer, you can always go to the court where you live.
